Oak Island Treasure Maps

There have been many "treasure maps" that have been associated with the supposed treasure on Oak Island. More maps coming soon!

Title: Captain Kidd Treasure Map.

Story: Gilbert Hedden became fascinated with the Oak Island Mystery in the 1920’s and 30’s. Hedden collected books and articles about Oak Island and visited there several times. Hedden traveled to Great Britain and interviewed Harold Tom Wilkins, about his book about Captain Kidd and His Skeleton Island. Hedden believed that Oak Island was represented as a map in Wilkins' book.

Zena Halpern Map

Title: Zena Map

Story: In Season 4, Episode 2, of the Curse of Oak Island, Knights Templar theorist, Zena Halpern presents some maps that she found in the back of a book once owned by the late William Jackson. One map was of Oak Island and the surrounding area, and another was called La Formule and had a cipher that closely resembled the alleged 90ft Stone cipher. The Compendium will be doing a multi-part investigation regarding these maps and will present information regarding their authenticity.

Title: 1974 map of the treasure hunter haven of Oak Island, Nova Scotia.

Author: Frederick Nolan

Story: The map was drawn and published by the surveyor and treasure hunter Frederick G. Nolan and illustrates his attempts to uncover the mysterious Oak Island treasure trove…Several sites of interest are noted, including the original Money Pit, the site of the Restall Disaster (1965), the 'original pirate landing dock', the swamp, a 'pirate ringbore', 'pirate roads' and more. An inset details the island as a whole, including the site of Nolan's Museum on nearby Crandall's Point. A second inset offers a profile of the Money Pit itself to 212 feet. A pirate ship appears on the lower right quadrant.”

Title: Oak Island Map, 1961.

Author: George Bates

Story: Historical Map of the Island drawn by George Bates in 1961. Bates was known for his dry-dock theory of the island. He first surveyed Oak Island in 1937 and would later become a Secretary for the Nova Scotia Historical Society.
